The devil, who is a liar (John 8:44), is constantly trying to drive a wedge between God and people. One of the ways that he separates us from God is by lying to us about our identity.

The Bible says that we are:

  • God’s adopted sons and daughters – Ephesians 1:5
  • Approved – 2 Timothy 2:15
  • Accepted – Acts 10:35
  • Reconciled – 2 Corinthians 5:18
  • The apple of God’s eye – Deuteronomy 32:10
  • Hidden in Christ – Colossians 3:3
  • Seated with Christ in the heavenlies – Ephesians 2:6
  • Chosen – 1 Peter 2:4
  • Called – Galatians 5:13
  • Destined – Romans 8:29
  • Sealed – Ephesians 1:13
  • Filled – Colossians 2:10
  • God’s workmanship – Ephesians 2:10
  • A new creation – 2 Corinthians 5:17
  • The salt of the earth – Matthew 5:13
  • The light of the world – Matthew 5:14
  • The head, not the tail – Deuteronomy 28:13
  • Above, not beneath – Deuteronomy 28:13
  • More than conquerors – Romans 8:37
  • Overcomers – 1 John 5:4
  • Free – Luke 4:18
  • Full of power, love, and possessors of a sound mind – 2 Timothy 1:7
  • Kings and priests of the Most High – Revelation 1:6
  • Heirs to the King – Romans 8:17
  • Friends of God – John 15:15
  • God’s beloved – Psalm 127:2
  • Blessed – Psalm 112:1
  • The joy set before God – Hebrews 12:2
  • Anointed – 2 Corinthians 1:21
  • Made in the image of God – Genesis 1:27
  • Exquisitely fashioned – Job 10:8
  • A child of God – Deuteronomy 14:1
  • A temple – 1 Corinthians 3:16
  • Crucified with Christ – Galatians 2:20
  • Redeemed – Galatians 3:13
  • Royal priests – 1 Peter 2:10
  • Living stones – 1 Peter 2:4
  • A holy nation – 1 Peter 2:9
  • Heirs – Romans 8:17

Any time that God’s children feel “less than,” it’s due to the work of the devil. His goal is to trick Christians into conformity because they believe that they are separated from God.

As God’s children, we are adopted into His family. We have direct access to the Father, and we can expect Him to act on our behalf!
